Living With Food Allergies

Common Food Allergens

Although food allergies have only recently gained mainstream awareness (within the past couple of decades), we’ve actually been aware of food allergies and sensitivities for thousands of years.

Today food allergies and sensitivities are estimated to affect approximately 6 to 8 percent of children under the age of 5, and about 3 to 4 percent of adults (Mayo Clinic – Food Allergy). Some children will outgrow their sensitivities; some children and adults will live with them their entire lives. The most common food allergens include:

  • Wheat
  • Dairy
  • Soy
  • Eggs
  • Tree Nuts
  • Peanuts
  • Fish
  • Shellfish

Products that contain these ingredients must indicate so on the label. However, products that are manufactured in a facility that processes any of these ingredients may or may not state so on the label, depending on the manufacturer. All Living Now products are made without these major allergens in a facility that does not handle these ingredients.

Living with Allergies

In the past, living with a food allergy was extremely difficult. Symptoms were often confused with other maladies, and allergen-free diet options were non-existent, leaving many people with food allergies out in the cold. These days living allergen- and gluten-free isn’t nearly the hassle or risk it used to be. No longer do you have to sacrifice texture, taste or variety in your foods. Advances in the science of food and nutrition have made it possible for individuals with food sensitivities to enjoy modified versions of many of their favorite foods and baked goods, and many grocery and health food stores now carry a wide variety of options for allergen-sensitive individuals.

With Living Now products, you can eat the foods you love without the ingredients that don’t love you. Made without wheat, dairy, soy, eggs, nuts and fish.
